Malaysia Hindu Sanggam released a press statement on 30th October 2007 about the demolition of Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Taman Karuppiah, Shah Alam. It's all started 3 years ago when a Court Order issued for all the squatters and the building including this 45 years old temple to be removed as well. Till to date, the temple had not received any official notice on the destruction matter other than being told the night before the incident that the temple have to move to a new place within few days. The representative from state government and Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) verbally informed the temple that night that they will be given few days to move out before demolition. The temple and devotees were all unaware the temple is soon to destroyed the next morning!

Out of the blue, suddenly on next (Tuesday) morning, 30th October MBSA and enforcement unit came down to demolish the temple due to the court order stated by the Mayor of Shah Alam. DatukVaithilingam, the President of Malaysia Hindu Sanggam approached immediately the champion of Indian's Right in Malaysia (you know who!) who's attempt to halt the demolition of the temple for at least 2 days for giving the temple an ample time to install the deities in new site with ritual ceremony were turn down by the 'toyol' & co. The half Indonesian 'toyol' stated that the Court's Order is to immediately remove the temple and himself being a 'toyol' nothing much that he can do to stop the demolition. I wonder how obedient the 'toyols' can be when it comes to following Court Order's.

At the end of day, what left is just the memory of the 45 years old temple which had served the religious and social obligations of the Hindu's community there. Due to some people's greediness and self interest in the past years we have witness the destruction of temples, mosque's and kuils in Malaysia. When will this act STOP!? My point is why did the MBSA and enforcement did not give the people and devotees an ample time to at least move out the deities and statue as per the hindu's ritual ceremony? Is it so much to ask for another couple of days? Where did the multi-cultural sensitivity which had been cultivated since my primary school era has gone? All is gone just as how the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple gone with the bulldozer!

Dear reader's, think and judge for yourself. As citizens of Malaysia what can I do change all this crab? The only thing that I can do is blogging like a mad man and expressing my freedom of speech in this space provided by a thing called Internet! But is this enough to change the future outcome of what has happened so far? Not really! I still got one more choice which is given to me every 5 years for being a citizen of this country. Yess! Vote! It's OUR Right and the simplest thing which I and You can do if we want to have a better Malaysia. We still have our choice guys! Aren't we? Definitely I will never VOTE for you know which party! SaY nO tO bARISAN ......!
